Shiga Kogen Ski Resorts trail map
Shiga Kogen is a cluster of 18 ski areas inside Joshinetsu Kogen National Park in Yamanouchi, Nagano, all above 1,300 m and all covered by one shared lift ticket for every lift and gondola. Each area has its own feel, from Yakebitaiyama and Okushiga Kogen to Ichinose and the high slopes of Yokoteyama, and most are linked by runs, gondolas or free shuttle buses. More than 80 courses suit everyone from first-timers to experts. The altitude keeps the snow dry and the season long, from December into early May, and the area hosted alpine events at the 1998 Nagano Olympics. Hot springs and ski-in hotels are spread across the plateau, which is reached by bus from Nagano or Yudanaka stations.
