Terakoya Ski Area trail map
Terakoya Ski Area sits above Higashidateyama in the central part of Shiga Kogen, at the foot of Terakoya peak, and is the second-highest ski area in Shiga Kogen at just over 2,000 m. It is prized for dry powder and, on clear days, views across the Hokushin peaks to the Northern Alps. With two lifts and four runs it is compact: mostly wide intermediate slopes, plus a 30-degree pitch on the LIPS course. From the Eternal course a cruise of about 6 km runs via Higashidateyama and Hoppo Bunadaira down to Giant. There is no road access; you ride up from Higashidateyama or Ichinose. The season runs to Golden Week in May.
