Takamagahara Mammoth Ski Area trail map
Takamagahara Mammoth sits at the north-western foot of Mount Higashitateyama in the central area of Shiga Kogen, and locals simply call it Takamagahara. Its draw is one broad, natural slope: the upper half is for intermediate and strong skiers, the lower half is a gentle beginner pitch. Hotels line the base, and you can ski across to Tannenomori, Higashitateyama and Nishitateyama, so it works as a base for touring the central area on one pass. The season is long, from early December to the May holidays.
