Yamada Onsen Kids Snow Park is a small slope for children and beginners about 600 m uphill from Yamada Onsen in Takayama village, Nagano. Instead of chairlifts it uses ski troikas, a rope-pulled lift rarely seen in Japan, which makes it a favourite with families. Once known as Yamada Onsen Ski Area with single chairlifts, it is now a gentle place to practise skiing and play in the snow. It opens over the New Year holidays and then on weekends and holidays until the end of February, and the hot springs of Yamada Onsen are close by.
