Shinshu Shiga Kogen Kumanoyu Ski Area trail map
Kumanoyu sits on the eastern side of Shiga Kogen at around 1,700 m and above, and its north-facing bowl keeps good snow all day, which is why it has long been called a skiers' sanctuary. Every lift returns to the central base house, so the fan-shaped area is easy to find your way around even on a first visit. The upper slopes include steep pitches for strong skiers, and with night sessions and spring early-morning openings the season runs into the May holidays. The historic Kumanoyu Hotel's hot spring stands at the foot of the slopes, and the area is covered by the Yokoteyama–Shibutoge pass, the Shiga Kogen all-mountain ticket and the Ikon Pass.
