Sunvalley Ski Area trail map
Sunvalley is the gateway ski area of Shiga Kogen, the first slope drivers see as they climb from Yudanaka, set on the Norisaka slope below Mt. Shiga. One quad chair serves three parallel runs, from a gentle beginner trail to the Shirokuma course, part of an FIS-approved slalom piste that keeps it popular with strong skiers. Skiers can glide across to neighbouring Maruike and Hasuike, and the Central Area and Shiga Kogen all-area passes are valid. Its sheltered aspect means it can stay open when blizzards close other areas. Hotels sit beside the slope, night skiing runs over New Year, and the season lasts from late December to the end of March.
