YAMABOKU Wild Snow Park Japanese
Japanese

YAMABOKU sits on the old Yamada Bokujo pastures on the south face of Mount Kasagatake at the edge of Shiga Kogen. About seventy percent of its runs are left ungroomed, so the light natural powder that falls between 1,500 and 1,750 metres and the rolling terrain are the main draw. There are groomed practice slopes, but also 38-degree pitches, cornice drops, tight trees and moguls, plus the Tacochi course for an extra fee. The upper slopes look out to the Northern Alps, and serows are sometimes seen. There is no snowmaking. It is about 40 minutes from the Suzaka-Naganohigashi IC, with onsen inns nearby.
