Shiga Kogen Yakebitaiyama Ski Area trail map
Yakebitaiyama, on the south-east face of Mt. Yakebitai in northern Shiga Kogen, is the Prince Hotels resort best known for dry powder at close to 2,000 m and runs that wind through conifer forest. Two gondolas reach the summit, serving 20 runs that include a 2.4 km cruiser, the Olympic course used for the slalom at the 1998 Nagano Games, and ungroomed powder zones opened after patrol checks. Terrain leans intermediate to advanced, but gentle slopes by the hotels and a family snow park suit beginners, and children of elementary age and younger ride free. Three wings of the Shiga Kogen Prince Hotel sit on the slopes, and the season runs from early December to Golden Week.
