Maruyama is a 2,854-metre mountain on the boundary between Nagano and Gifu prefectures, forming a broad high point on the ridge running from Sugorokudake (2,860 m) to Mitsumatarengedake (2,841 m) in the Northern Japan Alps. The official area map published by the Sugoroku-goya group of huts marks it on the ridge between Mitsumatarengedake and the Nakamichi ridge junction, a section of 50–55 minutes. It offers a fine outlook over the headwaters of the Kurobe and is usually climbed from Sugoroku-goya hut at 2,600 m. It lies within Chūbu-Sangaku National Park.
