Hida Hoonokidaira Ski Resort trail map
Hida Hoonokidaira sits right below the Northern Alps in Nyukawa, Takayama, with 17 courses laid out on natural terrain between 1,250 m and 1,550 m. Gentle tree-lined runs with views of the Alps suit beginners, while the 42-degree Mount course and mogul-strewn steeps keep stronger skiers busy. A row of lodges and restaurants lines the base, including a lodge with its own hot spring. Beyond skiing there is a kids' snow land, snow rafting, a summit snow taxi and moon bikes, which makes it an easy day out for families. The season runs from mid-December to late March; it is about 40 minutes by bus from Takayama Station and roughly two hours forty minutes by car from Nagoya.
