MIA Ski Resort lies on the north-eastern foot of Mt. Ontake in Kaida Kogen, Kiso Town, Nagano. With its top at 2,120 m the area is very cold, so although snowfall is modest the snow is light and dry, and skiers ride with Mt. Ontake straight ahead. A high-speed quad and a high-speed pair lift serve six runs from wide beginner slopes to long intermediate-advanced courses of over 3 km. The name MIA comes from the Latin Memoria In Aeterna, 'remembered forever'. The resort has announced that it will not open for the 2026-27 season while its operators discuss its future.
