Mount Marishiten

Mount Marishiten is a 2,959.2 m mountain in Gero City, Gifu Prefecture, forming the northwestern outer rim of Mount Ontake, whose main peak Kengamine is 3,067 m. It stands north of Ni-no-Ike and, with Tsugokodake and Mamahahadake, forms the Gifu-side rim peaks. A shrine built on its summit in 1889 was later moved to the shore of Go-no-Ike. Ontake is an active volcano, and access to its summit area is regulated according to the eruption alert level.
