Hida Nagareha Ski Resort trail map
Hida Nagareha, in Kamioka in Hida City, has been running since 1959 and calls itself Gifu's hidden-away ski area. From the 1,422 m summit there are views to the Northern Alps and Mount Hakusan, and rime ice sometimes coats the trees up top. Six lifts including a quad serve 13 runs over about 670 m of vertical: long cruisers such as the 3 km Panorama course and the steeper Giant course for confident skiers, plus gentle beginner slopes at the base. A day-use natural hot spring sits next to the slopes, and cottages and lodges nearby make it easy to stay over. It is about 30 minutes by car from Takayama IC.
