Ushidake Onsen Ski Area trail map
Ushidake Onsen Ski Area is Toyama City's municipal ski hill on the slopes of Mt. Ushidake in the former Yamada village, promoted for its sweeping views over Toyama Bay and the plain below and across to the Tateyama range. Opened in 1971 as the prefecture's first public ski area, it has three lifts, including a quad running from base to summit, and a 2 km open slope over 320 m of vertical. The terrain is mostly gentle beginner and intermediate runs, with a snow park of kickers and rails and cheaper child tickets on Saturdays, so it suits families. Night skiing runs on Friday and Saturday evenings in midwinter, and the Ushidake hot spring is close by. It is about 40 minutes by car from Toyama or Takaoka, with free parking.
