Takanbo Ski Resort trail map
Takanbo Ski Resort is a city-owned hill in the Kamitaira district of Gokayama, the valley in Nanto known for its World Heritage gassho-style farmhouses. Opened in 1987 on the north face of Mt. Takanbo behind Akao's Gyotokuji temple, it looks out over Mt. Ningyo and the Shogawa gorge. Three lifts serve four runs over 420 m of vertical, mostly beginner and intermediate, with pitches up to 29 degrees, and it hosts Toyama prefectural races. There is a free sledding slope, a ski school, and Kuroba Onsen nearby. Gokayama IC on the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway is about five minutes away.
