Awasuno Ski Area trail map
Awasuno Ski Area (粟巣野 in kanji) sits in the Tateyama foothills of Toyama city and is run by the Awasuno non-profit with volunteer help. The site hosted ski races from the early Showa era and is counted among the cradles of skiing in Toyama; the present ski area opened in 1960. North-facing slopes between 600 m and 825 m hold good snow, with the Snow Dolphin run for powder fans, the popular Dynamic course, a family slope, a kids' park with a conveyor and a 3 km cross-country trail. Short lift lines make it a good training hill, and offers such as free lifts for 23-year-olds and rail-and-lift tickets help young skiers and families. It is about 40 minutes from the Tateyama interchange.
