Unazuki Snow Park, also called Unazuki Onsen Ski Area, sits just above the hot-spring town at the mouth of the Kurobe Gorge. Skiing here dates back to the Taisho era, and in 1956 it opened as the first lift-served ski area in Toyama. It is a five-minute walk from Unazuki-Onsen Station on the Toyama Chiho Railway, and a free chairlift carries skiers up to slopes that look down on the onsen town and Toyama Bay. With two lifts and a ski school, it suits children and beginners. It closes on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Car: Kurobe IC, Hokuriku Expressway, 13 km, 20 min
Parking: Unazuki car park (next to the former fire station), free

Train

Unazuki-Onsen Station Toyama Chiho Railway Main Line · Change at Uozu Station. From the Hokuriku Shinkansen, get off at Kurobe-Unazukionsen Station (from Tokyo, 2 h 17 min at the fastest) and change to the Toyama Chiho Railway at the adjacent Shin-Kurobe Station → About 5 min on foot to the No. 1 Pair Lift (free), which takes you up to the ski area
