Mt. Yakushidake

Yakushidake is a 2,780 m peak on the boundary between Ashiyasu in Minami-Alps City and Nirasaki City in Yamanashi Prefecture, forming the southernmost summit of the Hōō Sanzan trio (Jizōgatake, Kannondake, Yakushidake) in the northern Akaishi Range of the South Japan Alps. Weathered granite gives the ridge its signature white-sand sweeps amid creeping pine and Erman's birch, and Yakushi Lodge stands just below the col toward Sunaharai-dake. Together with Kannondake it makes up the "Hōō-zan" of the Hyakumeizan list, and the peak appears on many further lists including the "Hyakkōzan", "Yamanashi Mountain Guide" and "Fuji-view 223". The summit lies within a Special Protection Zone of South Alps National Park.
