Fujimi Kogen Ski Resort trail map
Fujimi Kogen is a family ski area on the southwest slopes of the Yatsugatake range in Fujimi, Nagano, about eight minutes from the Kobuchizawa exit of the Chuo Expressway, and bills itself as the Nagano ski area closest to Tokyo. It is skiers-only by day, with snowboards allowed only at night. A short walk from the top of the first lift, a lookout shows Japan's three highest peaks, Mount Fuji, Kitadake and Okuhotakadake, at once. Two snowmaking-backed slopes cover a 26-degree training run and a 100 m-wide gentle beginner slope, plus a large kids' snow park and lessons from age four. Saturday night skiing runs in midwinter, and the Shika-no-yu hot spring sits next door.
