Chateraise Ski Valley Nobeyama trail map
Chateraise Ski Valley Nobeyama is run by the confectioner Chateraise on the Nobeyama plateau in Kawakami, Nagano, between 1,400 and 1,620 m and about two and a half hours from central Tokyo. Clear skies are the rule, snowmaking makes up for the light snowfall, and the runs look out on the Yatsugatake range and the Southern Alps. Five runs, led by the gentle Valley 1, all meet at one base, so it is easy to keep track of children, and there is a kids' park, terrain features and the 32-degree Alpine run for stronger skiers. Short night sessions run on Saturdays, the ski centre sells Chateraise sweets, a hotel sits on site, and day tickets can be swapped for the sister area at Koumi.
