Mountain hut at about 2,380m directly below Jizodake in the Hoo Sanzan of the Southern Alps. Ringed by Veitch fir and larch with a stream running past, it is a sheltered spot, and the granite-filtered spring water is given out free. From early summer into autumn it earns the name "hut of flowers": Hoo shajin, found nowhere but these peaks, and Takane biranji of the Southern Alps grow around it. Trailheads include Gozaishi Kosen (Tsubakurato ridge route, 5–5.5 hours up) and Aoki Kosen (Dondoko-sawa route, 6.5 hours), with longer approaches from Yashajin Pass and Hirogawara; Jizodake is about an hour above the hut. Founded in 1932, it was rebuilt for the first time in roughly half a century in October 2024, with a new main building and winter hut. The house speciality is the curry served at dinner, made fresh daily with free refills. Hut stays are strictly by telephone reservation; the campsite for about 30 tents needs booking only on designated busy dates.
