Mt. Yahazugasen
矢筈ヶ山
Kotoura, Tottori / Daisen, Tottori · Elevation 1,359 m
Mt. Yahazugasen, 1,358.4 m, stands on the border of Daisen and Kotoura towns in Tottori Prefecture, within Daisen-Oki National Park, as a main summit on the eastern Daisen outer-rim ridge running northeast from the Daisen massif. Its twin-peaked silhouette — Ō-yahazu and Ko-yahazu — recalls an arrow-rest, the origin of its name. A first-class triangulation point marks the summit, qualifying the peak for the Ittō-Sankakuten 100 Mountains list. Built up by andesitic lava flows of the old Daisen volcanic phase some 600,000–400,000 years ago, it joins Kabutogasen, Ko-yahazu and Senjō-san on a ridge that gives sweeping views from the Sea of Japan to Mt. Daisen, reached in about an hour from the Daikyū-tōge pass on the Ikkōgaaru–Daisen-taki trail.
