Emergency shelter near the Misen summit of Mt. Daisen (1,729m), the highest peak in the Chugoku region, at about 1,690m in Daisen, Saihaku District, Tottori Prefecture. It lies within Daisen-Oki National Park and falls under Tottori Prefecture's Western Regional Office. Its toilets were rebuilt in 2001 as an eco-toilet whose treatment tank runs on solar and wind power, recirculating rainwater together with treated effluent. To avoid frozen flush lines and the drop in generating capacity through winter, the flush toilets are closed each year in late October or early November and reopened after the snow melts, in late April or early May; low rainfall can also leave too little water to circulate, so the prefecture asks climbers to check the current status before setting out. In the summer season a shop in the caretaker's room sells summit badges and portable toilet kits, and the hut is one of the collection points for Daisen's voluntary entry contribution. The prefecture's code of use asks visitors to remove crampons and brush off snow before entering, light no fires, carry out their rubbish, pitch no tents, never climb on the roof, keep boots off the boarded floor and make sure the last person out shuts the door; stoves inside must be gas, are best used outside when the hut is busy, and only for boiling water. It is about 3h15m and 3.5km above Bakuroza parking at Daisenji via the Natsuyama trail and the sixth-station shelter.
