大休峠避難小屋

Unstaffed emergency shelter at Oyasumi Pass (about 1,100m) in Daisen-Oki National Park, Daisen, Saihaku District, Tottori Prefecture. It falls under Tottori Prefecture's Western Regional Office and has one non-flush toilet, for which you must bring your own paper. The pass is a crossroads where routes toward Daisen's Utopia area, Mt. Senjosan, Ikkonaru and Kawatoko meet; the hut stands in an open clearing with benches, surrounded by one of western Japan's largest beech forests. Stone paving survives on the trail either side of the pass, a remnant of the old pilgrim road to Daisenji temple — laid, it is said, from paving stones donated by many people to firm up an Edo-period quagmire, and later used to drive cattle and horses from central Tottori to the Bakuroza market at Daisen. The Chugoku Nature Trail climbs to the pass from the Kawatoko trailhead in Daisen Town via Iwabushi-wakare and Katori-wakare, then descends past Oyasumiguchi and Daisen Falls to Ikkonaru in Kotoura Town — roughly 8-9km and about 6 hours end to end. Ikkonaru campground is closed and entry prohibited from December to early April.
