Mount Chausuyama (2,384 m) stands in Chino City in central Nagano, on the Kita-Yatsugatake ridge between Mugikusa Pass to the south and Mount Shimagare to the north. The peak lies within Yatsugatake-Chūshin-Kōgen Quasi-National Park and is cloaked in sub-alpine fir and hemlock forest. Climbers commonly approach via the Kita-Yatsugatake Ropeway and Tsuboniwa or from Mugikusa Pass. Bands of dead conifers create striped patterns on the slopes.
