Bessan's north peak (2,880 m) lies in the Tateyama range of Tateyama, Toyama Prefecture. With Oyama and Jōdo-san it forms the 'Three Mountains of Tateyama,' set on the ridge between Tsurugi-gozen and Masago-dake. It has a north peak (2,880 m) and a south peak (2,874 m) with Suzuri-ga-ike pond between them, and its top is a fine viewpoint facing the nearby Tsurugi-dake. Within Chūbu Sangaku National Park, it is counted among Japan's 100 High Mountains and the Toyama Hyakuzan.
