Mt. Akaiwa

Mt. Akaiwa is a 2,768.7 m peak on the main ridge of the southern Hida Mountains (Northern Alps), on the boundary of Ōmachi and Matsumoto Cities in Nagano Prefecture. It sits between Daitenjō-dake and Nishi-dake along the Omote-Ginza traverse (Higashi-kama Ridge), with a third-order triangulation point named "Fudenami" on top. Within Chūbu Sangaku National Park, the maintained trail bypasses the summit along the eastern flank, so reaching the peak proper is a side excursion for the curious. Listed among Japan's Hyaku-kōzan.
