Mount Asayo is a 2,799 m peak straddling Minamiarupusu City and Hayakawa Town in Yamanashi Prefecture, sitting on the Hayakawa Ridge that links Kai-Komagatake to the Hōō Sanzan within Southern Alps National Park. It is listed in the Nihon Sanbyaku Meizan, the Yamanashi Hyakumeizan, and the Nihon Hyakkōzan. The summit is celebrated as a viewing platform for the entire northern Akaishi range — Kai-Komagatake, Senjō-ga-take, Kitadake, and the Hōō Sanzan are all framed in fine perspective. The standard ascents climb from Kitazawa Pass via Sensui Pass and Kurisawa-yama, from Hirogawara via Hirogawara Pass along the Hayakawa Ridge, and from Hakuhō Pass; the unstaffed Hayakawa-One Hut on the ridge provides a useful midpoint for traverse routes.
