Choegoya

Municipal hut of Minami-Alps City at 1,980m on the right bank of the Kitazawa, about 500m south of Kitazawa Pass in the northern Southern Alps. The bus stop at the pass is a five-minute walk away, making this a base for climbs of Kaikomagatake, Senjogatake and Kurisawayama. It has the only campsite in the Kitazawa Pass area, with room for about 200 tents and no reservation required. The two-storey wooden building was rebuilt by the city in 2012, with a dining room, lounge corner and drying corner downstairs and guest rooms upstairs. Hut stays for 27 people are strictly by reservation, offering room-only with bedding or two meals. The name honours Chobei Takezawa, the mountain guide from Todai who put up the first hut here in 1930; a commemorative relief stands nearby. Managed by the NPO Ashiyasu Fan Club.
