Mount Ikenotaira (2,561 m) rises on the northern ridge extending from Tsurugidake in the Tateyama Range of the Hida Mountains, straddling Tateyama, Kamiichi and Kurobe in Toyama Prefecture. Ringed by the steep rock gaps known as Ōmado and Komado, it lies within Chūbu Sangaku National Park, and remains of the Kokurobe molybdenum mine survive on its eastern and southern flanks. A remote peak without a maintained general trail, it is counted among the Shin-Etchū Hyakuzan and Japan's 2,500-metre summits.
