Mount Goryū

五竜岳

Mount Goryū is a 2,814-metre rocky peak on the Ushirotateyama Range of the Hida Mountains, straddling Kurobe City in Toyama and Ōmachi City in Nagano. It lies within Chūbu-Sangaku National Park and is famous for the diamond-shaped 'Takeda-bishi' snow pattern that appears on its east face in early summer. One of Fukada Kyūya's Hyakumeizan, it is most commonly approached via the Tōmi Ridge from the Hakuba Goryū gondola or by traversing from the Happō Ridge, with Goryū-sansō hut as the staging base.
