Yunomaru Ski and Snowboard Resort spreads across the Jizo Pass on the Nagano-Gunma border, at roughly 1,700 to 1,965 m. The altitude keeps the snow dry, and the resort bills itself as the natural-powder area closest to Tokyo. Six lifts serve nine courses, mostly wide intermediate runs, plus the 28-degree first slope, the long forested Kamoshika trail, a snow park and a permanent race course, all with views of Mt. Yunomaru and Mt. Eboshi. The season is long, from late November to early April. The hotel sits right on the slopes and offers day bathing. It is about 20 minutes from Tobu-Yunomaru IC on the Joshinetsu Expressway, with free parking.
