Saku Ski Garden PARADA is the ski area you can reach straight from the Joshin-etsu Expressway: park at Sakudaira PA and a long escalator takes you up to the slopes. It has two sides of Mt. Hirao, the main North Parada and the smaller South Parada by the expressway, with mostly beginner and intermediate runs named after musical terms. The resort pitches itself at families and first-timers, with an indoor kids' land, childcare, a children's ski school and full rental sets. The area is sunny with little natural snow, so the slopes rely on snowmaking. There is night skiing on Fridays, Saturdays and nights before holidays, and South Parada has the Miharashi-no-yu hot spring. A free shuttle runs from Sakudaira Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen, and the 1,500-car car park is free.

Shinkansen Sakudaira Station Hokuriku Shinkansen · Shuttle bus: December 20 to March 22 (planned; 2025-26 season) → Free shuttle bus to Kita-Parada from the Asama Exit, timed to Hokuriku Shinkansen arrivals (the 8:00 and 10:10 departures run only on weekends, holidays and New Year). A free shuttle also links Kita- and Minami-Parada
