Karuizawa Prince Hotel Ski Resort trail map
Karuizawa Prince Hotel Ski Resort sits about ten minutes' walk from the south exit of Karuizawa station and is known for opening at the very start of the season, around the end of October, thanks to extensive snowmaking. The slopes look out over Mt. Asama and the surrounding mountains. Terrain is aimed mainly at beginners and intermediates, children of elementary-school age ride free, and there are kids' and starter areas plus a snow park, making it well suited to families. With the shinkansen from Tokyo taking about an hour and Prince hotels right beside the slopes, it works for a day trip or a longer stay.
