Mt. Higashi-Kagonotoyama is a 2,227.2 m peak straddling the border between Tsumagoi Village in Gunma Prefecture and Tōmi City in Nagano Prefecture, one of the summits of the Eboshi volcanic group on the western flank of the Asama range. The summit holds a first-class triangulation point and is connected by ridge to Mt. Yu-no-marusan, Mt. Eboshidake and Mt. Nishi-Kagonotoyama. The Ike-no-Taira-shitsugen marsh at about 2,000 m on its northeast flank is famous for alpine flora, and serves as a popular trailhead from which the summit can be reached in roughly 85 minutes. The mountain lies within Jōshin'etsu-Kōgen National Park and is listed among the Shinshū Hyakumeizan, Ittō-Sankakuten Hyakumeizan, Gunma Hyakumeizan and many other selections.
