Yakeyama Onsen Ski Area Closed

Yakeyama Onsen Ski Area was a small beginner slope beside the Yakeyama hot spring, on the northern foot of Mount Niigata-Yakeyama south of central Itoigawa. It opened on New Year's Eve 1989 with one pair chairlift and three gentle runs over about 20 m of vertical, and was run by the same company as the onsen next door. It closed in 2004, and half-dismantled lift towers still stand on the site.
