CharMant Hiuchi Snow Resort trail map
CharMant Hiuchi sits in the hills of Itoigawa below Mt Hiuchi, close to the Sea of Japan, and is known for snowpacks of five metres or more and dry powder that is unusual for the coast. Around 65 percent of the terrain is left ungroomed and most of the area is open to ski, so it draws powder and tree skiers from far away, while groomed runs cover beginners and intermediates. The vertical is about 500 m with a longest run of 2.7 km. Its shaded slopes hold snow well, and the season usually lasts into early May. It is about 30 minutes from the Nou exit of the Hokuriku Expressway, with weekend buses and a free shuttle from Nou station.

- Nou Station Echigo TOKImeki Railway Nihonkai Hisui Line · Weekends and holidays 20 December – 5 May; daily 24 December – 7 January (no service on New Year's Day; the Nou–Tamugidaira route bus also does not run on 2 January) → Route bus from Nou Station (dep. 8:14) to Tamugidaira (arr. 8:35), then free shuttle bus to the ski area (arr. 8:50). Return departs the ski area at 15:40. Route bus 550 yen one way
