Mt. Hokogatake is a 1,316 m peak in Itoigawa City, Niigata Prefecture, rising on the watershed between the Nō and Hayakawa rivers and long revered together with neighboring Gongendake. Its upper ridges are known as a northern limit of native rhododendron (Honshakunage), with stands considered academically valuable, and the summit commands a sweeping panorama from the Myōkō Range across the Kaiyatani massif to the Sea of Japan. It is included in Niigata 100 Meizan, Echigo Hyakuzan, Furusato Hyakumeizan, and other prefectural and regional lists.
