Seki Onsen Ski Resort trail map
Seki Onsen is a small, century-old ski area (opened in 1917) right next to the hot spring village of the same name at the foot of Mt. Myoko. It sits in one of Japan's snowiest districts and leaves most of its terrain ungroomed, so it is a favourite of powder hunters, telemark skiers and fat-ski riders. Two lifts serve mostly intermediate and steep slopes shaped by the natural terrain, and a park is set up in spring, with the season usually running into April. Most visitors stay at one of the inns of Seki Onsen, known for its reddish water, and walk to the lifts. It is about 15 km (about 20 minutes by car) from the Myoko-Kogen exit of the Joshinetsu Expressway.
