Mt. Gongendake

Mt. Gongendake is a 1,104 m peak in Itoigawa City, Niigata Prefecture, rising on the watershed between the Nō and Hayakawa rivers as a forward peak of neighboring Hokōgatake. Its name derives from the Hakusan Gongen deity enshrined at the summit, and the mountain has long been an object of mountain worship. The summit, covered with rhododendrons, offers panoramic 360-degree views. It is listed in Niigata Sanpo 50, Niigata 100 Meizan +10, and the Niigata-ken no Yama prefectural climbing guide.
