Tazawako Ski Area trail map

Tazawako Ski Area spreads over the slopes of Mount Akita-Komagatake, and its signature sight is Lake Tazawa, Japan's deepest lake, laid out below the runs. Three ungroomed courses and a marked tree-run zone keep the powder skiers busy, and the Kuromoriyama slope has hosted a Mogul World Cup. Wide, gentle runs such as Mizusawa and Shirakaba, a snow park and the Snow Land play area make it work for beginners and families as well. Hot-spring villages such as Mizusawa and Nyuto lie close by, and buses reach the base in about 30 minutes from Tazawako Station on the Akita Shinkansen.
