Iwate Kogen Snow Park trail map
Iwate Kogen Snow Park spreads over the south-east flank of Mount Iwate, where a gondola climbs to about 1,200 metres for a top-to-bottom run of up to 2.6 kilometres. It has the only gondola in the Morioka and Shizukuishi area, with Mount Iwate rising close above the slopes. Its ten runs are evenly spread across ability levels, about half are left ungroomed, and a terrain park has kickers, boxes and rails. There is night skiing too. Opened in 1971 as Iwate Kogen Ski Area, it reopened under its current name in 2004 after a long closure caused by volcanic unrest on Mount Iwate. It is about 35 minutes from the Morioka IC, with a free shuttle from Morioka Station.
