Mount Onamedake

Mount Onamedake is the highest peak of Akita-Komagatake, a pyroclastic cone within its northern caldera. The ascent from Amida Pond takes about 20 minutes. A depression marks an old crater at the summit, which offers 360-degree views toward Mount Iwate and the peaks extending toward Nyutosan. Boardwalks around Amida Pond pass alpine flowers.
