Sabaneyama Ski Area Closed
Official name 猿羽根山スキー場
Yamagata
Sabaneyama Ski Area was a small slope inside Sabaneyama Park, which surrounds the Sabaneyama Jizo hall near the top of Sabane Pass on the border of Funagata and Obanazawa in Yamagata. Until around 1988 the hilltop was an amusement park with a Ferris wheel and a miniature railway, and the ski area reused part of its grounds after it closed. The ski area has since been abolished. The park remains, with a lookout over Mt. Gassan and the Mogami River and a folk museum, and it is closed in winter.
