Hanagasa Kogen Ski Resort trail map
Hanagasa Kogen is a small city-run ski area in the Tsuruko district of Obanazawa, deep-snow country not far from Ginzan Onsen. It is best known locally for night skiing, which runs every evening including weekdays, so residents can ski after work or school. There are three runs: a gentle beginner run ending in a rare-for-Yamagata triple kicker line, a longer intermediate run with ungroomed sections, and a short steep advanced run used for gate training, plus a cross-country trail. The resort relies on natural snow only, opens from late December to the end of March, and is about 25 minutes by car from Obanazawa IC.
