Tendo Kogen is a gentle family ski area on a plateau in the Tamugino district east of Tendo city, Yamagata. Two pair chairlifts serve three easy runs and two intermediate ones with no steep pitches, which suits children and first-timers. On weekends and holidays a kids' land offers tube sliding and parent-and-child snowmobile rides, and a ski school runs lessons for beginners and children. The 1,000-space free car park sits right by the slopes. The season usually runs from late December to March, about 90 minutes' drive from Sendai.
