Yakurai Family Ski Area is a small beginner slope at Yakurai Garden, a flower garden at the foot of Mt. Yakurai in Kami, Miyagi. A single pair lift serves a gentle 600 m slope with an average gradient of 12 degrees, plus a kids' area and sledding, so it suited families and first-timers, and it opened only on weekends and holidays. A day-use hot spring is a short drive away. The slope sits low, and after years of thin snow the operator suspended skiing from the 2024-25 season. While it is closed, sledding on the ungroomed slope is allowed at visitors' own risk, but snowmobiles are banned.
