Mt. Mokuzosan

Mt. Mokuzōsan is a roughly 1,027 m peak rising east of central Shinjō City in Yamagata Prefecture, at the southern end of the Kamuro Range. Its proximity to the city centre makes it a popular local climb, and Mokuzō-sansō, a small hut managed by the Shinjō Mountain Club, sits just below the ridge. The summit offers views across the entire Kamuro Range and out to Mt. Chōkai, Mt. Gassan and Mt. Hayama, and serves as the southern trailhead for the long ridge traverse to Mt. Kamuro. The peak is included in the Yamagata Hyakumeizan, Tōhoku Hyakumeizan and Yamagata Bunken Tozan Guide.
