Mitsunomata is a tiny free ski slope at the foot of Mt. Chokai in Yuza, Yamagata, in front of the Sanyu farm and forestry experience centre. A simple tow, where you hold a hook on a moving cable behind you, pulls skiers up one slope, and a separate sledding area makes it fun for small children too. There are floodlights, and on weekdays it opens from late afternoon into the evening. Sanyu serves local soba on weekends, and the Chokai Sanshin spring water can be collected in front of the building.
