Mt. Shogadake

Shogadake (1,635 m) is a peak in Yuza, Yamagata Prefecture, on the western flank of Mount Chokai and thus nicknamed "West Chokai." Within Chokai Quasi-National Park, it is known for colonies of alpine flowers such as nikko-kisuge day lilies and for views of the Sea of Japan, and is climbed from trailheads such as Odaira. It is one of the "100 Famous Mountains of Yamagata."
